Unity Prayer

The Unity Prayer is one of the many tools God is using to bring us closer together as a congregation. Be sure to include this easy, yet meaningful, spiritual practice into your weekly morning devotion. This week’s prayer is "O God, keep us mindful that You chose us for service, and that it is Your will we must heed. Help us to use the talents You give us, so that others may feed on the bread of life. Amen"

Bible Study - Spiritual Pactices

WHAT ARE SPIRITUAL PRACTICES
A spiritual practice is, a habit or regular pattern in your life that when faithfully repeated brings you back to God and opens you up to what God is saying to you. Christians over the years have learned that certain practices and disciplines help them to keep the spiritual channels open and help to keep the heart turned toward God. These practices don't make us a holy people, but they can heighten our desire, awareness, and love of God by stripping down the barriers that we put up within ourselves and some that others put up on us. What makes something a 'spiritual practice' is that it takes a specific part of our way of life and turns it toward God.

Spiritual practices help to keep our relationship with God in good working order, and even helps develop intimacy. Practices and disciplines are tools that are a part of cooperating with the Spirit on the task of remaking us into what God wants us to be. Tools, not magic, not willpower. Tools of surrender and remanufacture. Tools, that when used with Scripture, become powerful because of the powerful One we're working with

Please join us as we explore spiritual practices of our Christian faith during our weekly bible study on Wednesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. now through the end of May.

MUCH PRAYER

Increased unity in the church family. A growing love for one another and unbelievers. The pastor’s preaching gets better and better. People are more willing to get involved in the ministry of the church and to be a functioning part of the Body of Christ. These are just some of the spiritual blessings congregations have experienced when their volume of prayer is faithfully practiced.  Remember, "The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right, and His ears are open to their prayers" (I Peter 3:12 NLT).

PRAYER LIST

14 Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. — James 2:14

Here at First United, we take our needs to the Lord in prayer. We know that prayer works, and we trust in God and hold fast to His promises. If there is someone you would like added to our prayer list, or if you would like someone taken off our prayer list, please contact the church office at  704-376-8014 or send your confidential prayer requests to prayer@fupcc.org.
